my mother swears these are medicine. i remember eating these all the time during cold season as a kid. if i had a sore throat or cough, sure as always, my mom would prescribe me salted plum candy.
classic guava candy
acrylic on wood panel, 20.3 cm x 20.3 cm, 2024.
whenever we would leave a restaurant, my mom would grab a handful of these and deposit them safely in her purse. i remember the sweetness of the candy mixed with the metallic taste of a cut tongue.

my grandma always had a bowl of these, no matter how close to LNY it was or not. i remember sitting on her couch and eating an inappropriate amount of these candies. i think i hid the wrappers in her couch.
the one and only: white rabbit

my older sister and I's absolute favourite treat growing up. we would keep these in our pockets to warm them up and make them softer; this painting is for her.
